About Us

Kenneth Ward, M.D. -  Founder and CEO
Former Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health at the University of Hawaii, Dr. Ward is a Founder of Juneau Biosciences, LLC. Dr. Ward is among the few physicians in the country who are board certified in four sub-specialties: OB/GYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Medical Genetics, and Molecular Genetics. As Professor of OB/Gyn and Human Genetics, Dr. Ward founded and ran the University of Utah’s DNA Diagnostic Laboratory. He led the efforts to discover a number of human disease genes, including Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return and Hereditary Multiple Exostosis, as well as genetic associations for several pregnancy-related diseases including preeclampsia and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Dr. Ward has founded, grown, and operated a number of successful biotechnology companies. He is also a Founder and CSO of Axial Biotech, Inc., and president of Taueret Laboratories, LLC.

Hans Albertsen, Ph.D. - Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Albertsen, Ph.D., joined Juneau Biosciences at its inception in April 2007. Hans received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Aarhus, Denmark and has over 20 years of experience in human genetic research in both commercial and academic settings. He has authored over 35 articles primarily in the areas of genetic mapping, physical mapping, positional cloning and gene-expression profiling. Dr. Albertsen has been on the faculty of the Departments of Human Genetics and Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah. He has also worked as Program Manager of Microarrays at Amersham Pharmacia Biotech in Sunnyvale, CA. Hans is listed as an inventor on six patents.


Pamela Farrington, M.D. -  Chief Medical Officer
Pamela Farrington, M.D., is a Board-Certified OB/GYN who was on the faculty in the Department of OB/GYN at the University of Utah for 12 years.  She received her M.D. from the University of Florida and completed her OB/GYN residency at George Washington University in Washington, DC.  She has also worked at EmerGen Laboratories as the Director of Family and Clinical Studies.


Eric L. Robinson, J.D. -  Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel
Eric Robinson’s responsibilities include strategic planning, overseeing financial affairs of Juneau, supervising accounting personnel, and developing and monitoring accounting controls and procedures. Eric is also responsible for contract review and negotiation, as well as advising diligence, human resources, and strategic decisions.  Prior to joining Juneau’s team, Eric spent fourteen years in private practice as a corporate attorney focusing on securities as well as corporate and other business transactions. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah with a B.S. degree in accounting and he subsequently passed the CPA exam. Eric also graduated (Order of the Coif) from Vanderbilt University with a J.D. where he acted as a Managing Editor of the Law Review. He was previously listed in Utah’s Legal Elite (Corporate Law), Utah Business Magazine, and was AV Peer Review Rated in Martindale-Hubbell.
